In one of the best retail locations in Germany, Mönckebergstrasse in Hamburg, Matrix has acquired the former HORTEN department store and current SATURN electronics store with a rental area of about 20,000 sqm. In an extensive renovation and restructuring concept, the areas that are not currently being used are to be transformed into modern retail space and the existing façade replaced with a new exterior. The aim is to give this striking building in a prime location an optimised utilisation concept and a completely new look, whereby it is planned to do justice to the significance of the location as a “gate” to the historic Kontorhaus district with a brick curtain wall façade.
